Crickhowell is a beautiful small town, nestled on the southern edge of the Black Mountains, within the Bannau Brycheiniog.
At the foot of one of the best paragliding sites in Wales, if not the UK, known as “The Magic Mountain”, Crickhowell was the birthplace of the UK hangliding scene in the late 1970s. Given that the UK’s first school was based here, a lot of pilots moved to the area. Many things have changed, but the area is still a mecca for pilots when we have fine weather. The best months for classic Welsh Cross Country Flying are usually March – May.
The town won Best British High Street in 2019. We’re proud of our uniquely independent High Street shops and fantastic pubs and restaurants.
Crickhowell makes a great base for our school. We’re within an hour’s drive of around thirty flying sites, allowing us to train in an wind direction.
