FLARE Moustache²

Parakite Club Pilot Training Course

We’re excited to announce that as of October 2026, we can now offer a dedicated Parakite Club Pilot training course using our FLARE Scout and Moustache wings. We anticipate this course taking a student 6 – 8 days to complete, and will set a student up with an internationally recognised qualification, and the 3rd party insurance required to fly in the UK as well as all around the world. Just like any of our training courses, the cost is £175 a day. Please contact us if you’re interested to begin your parakiting journey!

Our students will also receive a 5% discount on all FLARE products, post Club Pilot training support,
and first access to any of our overseas training courses.

We’re proud to be the UK’s only FLARE Pro Partner, delivering training, demos and advice to pilots across the UK and further afield.

We have a suite of demo Moustache² parakite wings in stock, in all sizes, as well as the Contour and Proxy Harnesses for you to learn to fly, or demo with us. We also keep Scouts, Bandits, Line and Prop wings for demo here in Crickhowell.

For those already qualified, we can offer advice on sizing, training, trimming and discount codes for you to buy your wing of choice.

What is a Moustache²? Well it looks a lot like a paraglider, but is actually quite different. The Moustache² is fast and stable at the same time. With the Flare system, it allows you to combine the classic brake range of a paraglider with the speed system, so that you can now control both using the brake lines. The reflex profile means that the glider is incredibly stable throughout the speed range and height can easily be turned into speed, and vice versa. This allows precise control of the flight altitude. Soaring is safer in a wider range of wind speeds.

What is the Moustache for?

Soaring, speed flying and speed riding, snow kiting and proximity flying. The Moustache² is not intended to be used for thermalling or cross country! The Moustache² is primarily intended for soaring in a range of wind speeds, and inland proximity flying down the flattest lines you can find on a map! Flare have opened a new chapter in paragliding history with the Moustache and we’re stoked to be part of the journey.

At the moment, you need to be a BHPA Club Pilot qualified paraglider pilot to fly the Moustache, or the rest of its family with us, due to the fact the wings don’t have an EN-926-2 certificate like a regular paraglider.

This doesn’t mean they’re less safe, simply that they can’t be tested in the same way, due to the nature of the control system and aerofoil shape. Arguably, if flown in the right environment and with suitable training, they’re safer than a normal paraglider for soaring, especially in stronger winds. The current EN testing regime is, unfortunately, not ready for this technology.

Typically we can convert any Club Pilot in a day or two, even fresh from the school, as long as you have a solid foundation in reverse ground handling, and launching in winds of up to 15mph. If you’ve been trained in lighter winds, it’s still totally feasible, but we might need to do a little more stronger wind work with you.

The good news is that we have written a syllabus for the BHPA (which is in the process of approval), and are hoping that soon (Autumn 2026), we’ll be able to offer training to complete beginners on these awesome wings, utilising the new FLARE Scout as the perfect training tool. We’re expecting this course to take a student around 6 – 8 days. If you’re in this position, whether you’re a kite surfer, sky diver, or completely new to airsports, please drop us a message, and we’ll let you know as soon as we can offer you a training course.
